I have spent most of my free time in the last three weeks transitioning to Org Mode for my task management. With all the beautiful task management apps out there today, you might wonder why I chose a text-based task manager with a steep learning curve. The answer is that I did it because it’s fun. I love using text on my computer, and I enjoy customizing eMacs to look and feel the way I want it to for this work. And now, I enjoy working with my tasks instead of dreading having to mark them off or list new things to do!

Although I have many years of formal education, most of what I've learned has come from experimenting and trying to solve problems on my own. Once an idea for a project is set in my mind, it is all-consuming and one must learn everything possible about the subject on the way to the outcome. For learning is more than reading books and spoken word, it is hours of frustration, trial and error, and one sudden flash of insight when the world magically makes sense. It is during this moment when I am truely alive.
